Why We Built CarmaCircle

Here's the thing nobody says out loud: getting a job is mostly luck and connections wearing a costume called "merit."

Our founder, Chris White, learned that the hard way – twice.

During the growth boom of the late 2010s, recruiters found him. Then the pandemic layoffs hit, AI flooded the market, and suddenly he was no longer the one being chased. So he did what you do when the system stops working: he picked up the phone. He activated his network. He got passed along, person to person, several degrees deep, until someone with an actual opportunity took the meeting.

Not because of his resume. Because of who vouched for him.

It worked. It also sucked. It was exhausting, manual, and it burned through years of relationship capital to pull off. And here's the part that kept him up at night: it only worked because he had the time. He had the resources. His network happened to be close enough to the finish line that he could get there by hand.

Most people don't have that.

Which means there are people out there just as talented as Chris who never get found. Not because they can't do the work. Because nobody handed them the right phone number. So businesses fight over the same tiny pool of "known" talent while everyone else screams into the void of quick applies and applicant tracking systems.

That's not a personal problem. That's a systemic one. So we built a systemic fix.

What we actually believe

Your reputation doesn't live on a resume. It never did. It lives in the people who actually worked beside you – the ones who know how you show up when the project's on fire, whether you do what you say you'll do, what you're like at 4:45 on a Friday when everything's broken.

That reputation has always been the most valuable thing you own. It just never had a place to live. Enter CarmaCircle.

Trust is conferred, not claimed. You don't get to tell the world you're great – your brand isn't what you say it is, it's what other people think it is. On CarmaCircle, the people who actually worked beside you vouch for how you really show up, through a structured peer review. Don’t worry, we’re not blowing smoke. It's not a star rating, or a LinkedIn endorsement to live next to the one from your mom from 2010. Carma is a real assessment that turns "yeah, she's great" into a behavioral fingerprint AI can read and humans can trust.

Then we do the thing the whole system pretends is impossible: we automate networking. Through your Carmic Path, you can see the warm routes you already have into the companies you want – up to six degrees out. The same chain reaction Chris ran by hand, except now it runs on its own, for everyone.

Who we're for

We're for the people who do the work and watch someone louder take the credit. We're for the worker who's tired of cosplaying professionalism just to br targeted by an algorithm. We're for everyone who's smart, capable, and quietly furious that the job market rewards performance over proof.

We’re for the recruiter who's drowning – burnt out, overworked, buried under AI-generated applications, and set up to fail with tools built for a process that hasn't actually changed in decades. For the hiring manager who can't find fit in the flood, who's under more pressure than ever to get it right, and who gets handed the blame when volume and AI make that nearly impossible.

The job market is a shit show. We're not going to pretend it isn't, and we're not going to hand you a motivational quote about resilience and call it help. And as easy as it is to blame recruiters, they aren't the problem either. They're doing impossible work inside a broken system with a fresh veneer of AI slapped on top.

So we’re addressing the root of the problem. We're going to make your professional reputation visible and shareable – so the next time opportunity comes looking, recruiters can actually find you, and hiring managers can trust what they see.

The resume is dead. We're building what comes next.
